CASPER GHOSTS VS. OREM OWLZ

Mike Lansing Field in Casper, WY
This was a rematch of the first game on our trip in Orem, Utah but this time it's being played at Mike Lansing Field, in Casper, Wyoming. The ballpark sits next to the North Platte River which runs just beyond the rightfield fence.

Mike Lansing is a Wyoming native who was raised in Casper and played for the Montreal Expos and Colorado Rockies. (He was also named in the Mitchell Report as a player who used illegal performance enhancing drugs but the locals appear to have forgiven him.)

The Owlz won the game we saw in Orem last week but this time the Ghosts came out on top 5-4. The ballpark was comfortable but all of its seats have views that are obstructed by posts and/or safety netting. One has to stand down the lines beyond the infield to avoid the obstructed views.
The logo on the Ghosts' caps

The Casper Ghosts couldn't reach an agreement to use the image of the once popular Casper the Friendly Ghost comic and cartoon character so they created their own ghost logo. The image of the angry ghost on their caps has glow in the dark stitching that displays a "G" when the lights are out. Pretty clever. Their team store was sold out of their best tee shirt designs so their logo must be pretty popular.

I really dislike having my view obstructed by poles and safety netting

Did I mention how much I dislike watching a game through a net?

Sigh.....

Shannon's ticket was called for this contest. Neither of the Ghosts homers hit the target.

I had to move out by the outfield to escape the netting

I should have stayed down the line

The sunset paints the clouds orange over Casper, Wyoming

I couldn't help taking several shots while the sky was in this state

I'm glad there's no netting fouling up these shots

I wonder if it's common for the sky to be like this in Casper

A good stretch by the Ghosts' first baseman gets the out

Another out at first base

The sky won't stay like this much longer

I guess I was fixated on the sky instead of the game

Going...going...

...gone. And another out made at first base.

The net makes it difficult for me to enjoy the action

The Owlz cut the lead to 5-4 in the top of the 8th

The Ghosts win!
